The curtain came down on Scott's debut season at Brands Hatch yesterday and he cemented his positions of third in the graduate cup and ninth overall which is a great achievement for the youngest driver on the grid. Qualifying went well with sixth in the first session and a repeat looked on the cards in session two when another competitor had gearbox problems and spread oil over the track with only four laps left the officials carried on but unfortunately left the damaged car out as well effectively ruining the session, Scott ended up tenth. Both races were fairly uneventful with Scott ending where he started. Scott commented after the meeting "Both races were pretty run of the mill, no real drama's. I was a little slow away in the second race, otherwise all went well. Adam, who won this years championship today, is a good friend of mine and I'm pleased for him. I hope to step into his shoes and win next years championship." .
Scott has learnt a great deal this season and with the experience behind him is now equipped to mount a serious challenge for next years title.

Scott on the grid at Brands for the last race of the season
15th September 2008
Scott and his team are busy this week preparing for the final two rounds of the Formula Renault UK season and as reported earlier he is eager to return to the Kent circuit where he made his debut in the championship in March, Scott discussed his return today
“My target at Brands Hatch is to get a podium finish, which I nearly managed last time we were there. I think I’ve come a long way since the beginning of the season; it has been an extremely tough and competitive season but this is what I expected. All in all my year has gone well but I still don’t hink I have shown my true potential. I have learnt a lot by being with CRS; I have learnt that it is important to be professional at all times and that there is always room for improvement on the track!”
10th September 2008
Brands Hatch is the setting for the final two rounds of this years Formula Renault Uk championship on 20th/21st September. 2008 has been a terrific learning season for Scott. The youngest competitor on the grid, he has come through the season and has improved throughout, more than holding his own with experienced drivers. He is currently sitting ninth in the overall championship and third in the graduate cup and will look to cement or improve on these standings at Brands, Scott will be eager to record a podium finish to round the season off perfectly.

Scott and the charity Whizz Kids have confirmed their link for the remainder of this season and into 2009 issuing the following press release:

WHIZZ-KIDZ PARTNER WITH LOCAL DRIVING SENSATION
Whizz-Kidz – the national children’s mobility charity – has partnered with Formula Renault competitor and Winterbourne Down resident, Scott Jenkins in a sponsorship deal which will see Whizz-Kidz branding splashed across his car in the Formula Renault UK Championship, starting on Saturday 20th September at Brands Hatch and continuing in 2009. This is Scott’s first year of racing cars after great success, winning numerous championships around the world, in Karting. Scott drives for leading Formula Renault UK team CRS and the championship is renowned world-wide for starting the careers of drivers like Lewis Hamilton and Heiki Kovelainen.
Scott, 17, is gearing up for the upcoming race in Brands Hatch, Kent, where he will be competing against older drivers in the championship in front of a live audience of around 40,000 people and ITV 4 Live via the television broadcast.
The partnership came about after Scott drove for the Whizz Kids team at the Autosport Show in Birmingham in January this year when Scott and his CRS Formula Renault team mates, plus his younger brother Sam, won the charity event.
Whizz-Kidz was first paraded on Scott’s car in the recent Formula Renault UK championship race (which is part of the British Touring Car Championship event) at Silverstone two weeks ago.

At Silverstone this weekend Scott initiated a sponsorship arrangement with Whizz Kids, the children's mobility charity. The arrangement is in its early days but it likely to extend into the 2009 season. Scott said "I'm very pleased we are able to work with Whizz Kids they do great work with children and I look forward to welcoming some of them into the paddock during the 2009 season".

31st August 2008
Silverstone provided a bitter sweet experience for Scott this weekend disappointed with qualifying and the first race where he finished tenth but a great drive in the rain in race two which saw him come through the field to seventh.
Qualifying again left Scott with it all to do yielding eleventh and twelfth for races one and two respectively. Scott got caught out with the lights in race one which saw him enter the first corner in thirteenth place but a steady drive through brought him home in tenth The heavens opened for race two and this would be Scott's first wet start. He lost a place at the beginning but then drove superbly to come through the field and finish seventh. :
“That was my first ever start in the wet,” said Scott after race two. “I sat there for a while with the wheels spinning and lost a couple of places but I took one back at turn one. I had a pretty steady race after that. No real dramas, apart from when I got a bit sideways at one point, but I was never in any danger of going off.”
29th August 2008
The 2008 Formula Renault UK Championship returns to Silverstone this weekend for the second of its two visits to the Northamptonshire track. This time around the race is on the short National Circuit so it will be non-stop action for the Formula Renault racers.
Scott, after a great run at Silverstone last time out, is out for a podium finish. "I love Silverstone and had two great races there a few months ago where I overtook six or seven cars during the two races. I had engine trouble in qualifying last time so let’s hope things run more smoothly this time for me. I'm looking to end the season on a high in preparation for next year, when I hope to be back in Formula Renault UK. I think it's time to get a podium so that's the target, plus score as many points as possible to move up the championship table a few places before the season ends." Scott is currently in third place in the graduate cup and a occupies a very creditable eighth position in the overall championship in this his debut season.
12th August 2008
As Scott enjoys the August break and Formula Renault does not restart until the last weekend of the month, he has time to reflect on the season so far. This is Scott's first season in cars after an immensely successful karting career and he is the youngest driver on the grid still only sixteen. He showed potential in the winter series and gained invaluable experience but the enormity of the jump from karts was to become real to Scott during his first few races. As the season has progressed Scott has grown into his new surroundings and started to make an impression on the rest of the field. His natural racing ability has always been evident but the qualifying and race tactics were new and Scott has now shown he has come to master these as well. Oulton Park was a big meeting for him in many ways, as well as a great race result he qualified impressively and his race tactics were at time superb the racing press were complimentary in their reports and accept Scott as a genuine contender and a huge prospect for the future, one of the reports showed the sort of racing Scott is now becoming known for -" Lap 13 saw Calado's first major attempt at taking third place but he pulled out of a lunging move at the last moment. The manoeuvre did cost both drivers time and Buzaid and Jenkins took advantage to close the gap. On the following lap, Jenkins showed how it could be done with a brilliant, gutsy move around the outside of the Brazilian Buzaid at Old Hall, the 16-year-old once again showing nerveless overtaking skills in his debut season." Scott currently sits in third pace in the graduate cup and in eight place overall and is determined to improve on this over the second half of the season.
6th August 2008
Scott and his team are now considering their options for the 2009 season talks began at the recent Oulton Park meeting and plans started to take shape for Scott's racing next year. Scott's manager Mark, of Start Sports Management, said "Scott and I have been talking a lot in the past 3 or 4 weeks about next year. It is quite likely that we will continue in Formula Renault UK as generally it is a two year program. Scott is making great progress, as current team Director Andrew Kirkaldy mentioned a recent press article". So there is a good chance that Scott will be racing the UK tracks again next year, this is what Scott had to say on the matter "I do like the idea of European racing, but given I'm still only 16 years old that can wait a little while. I've got unfinished business here in Formula Renault UK and I'm just starting to get the car to do what I want it to do. I'm enjoying the racing". No announcement will be made for a month or two as discussions continue between Scott's Representatives and the leading Formula Renault teams, as Mark pointed out "We will talk to the various teams and make a decision towards the end of this season. We need to decide on testing and the winter series also. As always we will do what is best for Scott and him reaching the highest level of racing".
28th July 2008
Scott arrived at Oulton Park with the confidence gained from Snetterton but aware of the challenge that the circuit would present. Saturday qualifying went exceptionally well, in session one Scott was pushing hard when in fifth position looking at a possible front row slot when he clipped the wall resulting in damage to the car and a hard couple of hours work for the team to repair the car. His previous time was still good enough to qualify seventh and prepare for session two. Despite the teams hard work the car was ok but not spot on and Scott could only record a tenth place. Some more fine tuning overnight put the car back at it's best and ready for race one. Scott did not disappoint, a solid start held seventh and then progressed to fifth, the leading pack of four had pulled a five second advantage by this point but Scott set about reducing the gap and within 3 laps had joined the group leaving the rest of the field six seconds back but no more overtaking opportunities presented themselves and Scott settled for a good fifth finish.
Race two began with Scott on grid ten but a great first lap saw Scott up to seventh and challenging with three laps remaining he was into sixth when he passed Adriano Buzaid around the outside of turn one taking fifth place from the Brazilian. There is now a five week gap to the next round at Silverstone on 30/31 August but Scott is carrying some scorching form and confidence into the remaining rounds.
24th July 2008
The Formula Renault championship moves on to Oulton Park this weekend presenting Scott with the challenge of a circuit he has never driven previously. Scott's team remain confident however due to his current form "
Scott has made some great improvements recently and I hope Oulton can produce the podium finish we are looking for" commented team boss Andrew Kirkaldy and Scott himself is looking forward to the challenge
“I think Oulton Park is one of the most challenging circuits the Renault calendar has to offer due to the fact that there are many hills and a huge variety of corners, from uphill cornering to downhill braking, and a good mixture of slow and fast corners. I have never raced there so it is going to be another new challenge for me as a year one driver but I think my aim for this weekend is to get a top six in both races or maybe higher!”
13th July 2008
Scott enjoyed one of his best weekends of the season at Snetterton, the delayed round from Croft took place on the Saturday with Scott netting a good eight place finish and a much improved qualifying of 6th and tenth respectively for the Snetterton rounds thirteen and fourteen. A slight problem on the start of race one saw Scott lose three places off the start but he clawed his way back to finish in eight, race two saw Scott finish in sixth with a spirited drive through the field. Scott commented after the meeting
“The first race on Sunday was looking good as I had qualified in sixth place. Unfortunately I lost three places at the start but I managed to get back up to eighth by the end and I was pleased that my qualifying performance is improving. I started 10th in race two and finished sixth so that was great. Overall the weekend was good for me. We all struggled a bit at the start but the team all worked around it and we started to get better results.” Team boss Andrew Kirkaldy had this to say
"Scott had a very good weekend: he was good in the test and the race so I was very pleased with his performance."
11th July 2008
The 2008 Formula Renault UK Championship returns to the track this weekend for the next chapter at Snetterton in Norfolk. The drivers have all had a long summer break but they will be right back in at the deep end this weekend as they have three races to compete in. Round ten, postponed during the wet weekend at Croft, will take place on Saturday at Snetterton, in addition to the usual double-header on Sunday. Scott looks forward to this weekend " I really enjoyed the test recently at Snetterton and made good progress with my set up. I had some great sectors, but just couldn't piece one great lap together. Saying that I think I will go well during the races. We've got three races this weekend and I'm hoping to make an impact and start to catch Dean (Stoneman) in the Graduate Cup, though it will be tough given his very quick test times. I need three top six finishes this weekend and the team and I will work really hard, starting on Friday morning, to achieve this.”
10th July 2008
CR Scuderia team official Andrew Kirkaldy commented in Autosport this week regarding Scott's progress since switching from karting " Watching Scott develop this year has been hugely satisfying. Scott has such high expectations of himself, that anything other than finishing in a top position he has found disappointing. Scott is a perfectionist; which we hugely admire and we are all extremely confident that as he learns more circuits and has more time in the car that his results will continue ot improve. He is a higely talented young man with a great future in the sport and CRS looks forward to helping him develop that potential."
8th July 2008
Scott and his team resumed their season at Snetterton testing ready for the forthcoming meeting there. Scott had a good solid first day and set some very competetive lap times, day two was spent on the various tasks preparing the car for this weekend.
8th June 2008
The world series Renault meeting is always a hugely popular meeting with large crowds and a great atmosphere. Scott and his support team took the opportunity to entertain some guests and also show numerous children around the car and garage, with a parting gift of a signed cap all left happy and firm fans.
8th June 2008
The Renault world series event ran at Silverstone over the weekend of 6-8th June this is the only meeting Renault UK does not run with BTCC programme. The Sunday brought a crowd of seventy thousand plus to witness some great racing. The meeting started for Scott with practice on Thursday, unfortunately the car was blighted with engine problems and Scott managed only four laps, not the best preparation for Qualifying on Saturday particularly as both qualifying runs would be during one session only.
On his first set of tyres Scott was going really well and came in for a tyre change 12 minutes into A 25 minute session, unfortunately, the engine problem reoccurred and Scott had to re-pit not to return. The whole field improved on their times on a warming track and a frustrated Scott was left in thirteenth place. The team worked hard on Saturday night and found and cured the problem.
Race one started well but soon turned sour as Scott got hung out wide in a congested field and spun restarting in 20th. Scott them produced some electric race pace and carved his way through the field to end in 9th place. He also set the second fastest lap of the race during this run to the flag. In the second race Scott drove very well and moved up to an impressive seventh by the finish. A case of what might have been maybe? but overall a great result in the circumstances. Scott commented after the meeting "
Qualifying was yet again the sticking point for me. I’ve only done the single session qualifying once before and coupled with an engine problem it was a tough thing for me to do and I ended up with a 14th and 13th. Race one was a lot of fun. I had a spin at the beginning; it all got a bit bunched up going into Vale and I got a wheel on the kerb looking for a way through. When I hit the gas it span me around and I dropped right back to 20th. The car was handling fantastically though and I thoroughly enjoyed the fight back up to ninth and managed to take the second fastest lap of the race. Race two was a bit more chilled out. I gained a few places at the start then overtook a couple and finished seventh. A much more straightforward race!”
Team manager Andrew Kircaldy also commented on Scott's performance
" Scott again showed the potential pace he has to offer. He drove a fantastic race in race one. It won't be long until the qualifying falls into place and we see him right up the front."
2nd June 2008
The Formula Renault season moves to Silverstone this coming weekend (7-8 June) for the World series weekend, Scott and his team have tested at the circuit and the World series is a huge event attracting great crowds, he knows a good result here will shoot him up the standings and he is looking forward to it.
1st June 2008
In a rain affected race meeting Scott recovered from a lowly qualifying position to show great race pace and finish in a deserved tenth place. Practice went very well with Scott leading the timing screens for a lot of the session eventually ending in sixth, unfortunately the set up that had been so strong in practice did not respond to the sudden rise in temperature on Saturday and Scott ended in 17th position. Second qualifying with a revised set up was better and the timings improved to give an eleventh place grid. Race day was however blighted by torrential rain and only one Renault race was possible, the whole meeting looked to be in jeopardy at one stage when the much heavier touring cars struggled to stay on the road due to the standing water. This result leaves Scott in 11th position in the overall championship and 5th in the graduate cup.
Scott commented after the meeting;
“I’m pleased to get a top ten finish but I still need to improve on my qualifying performance as it affects the rest of my race meeting. The racing is really good; the set up of the car is great and I can push really hard. I’m looking forward to moving onto Silverstone next week as we looked promising there in testing. There is only one qualifying session at that event though so I will have to make sure I pull something out of the bag.”
27th May 2008
Scott returns to the Croft race circuit in the North East this weekend having competed there in the Winter series last year. He is currently 11th in the championship.
“Thruxton didn't work out exactly as I had hoped, though given the lack of track time I'm not overly disappointed. It was another learning experience; I'm having plenty of those this year. I have lost a few places in the Championship standings and I fully intend to get those back at Croft. Whilst in testing things have gone quite well at Croft and the most important thing, compared to other tracks for me this year, is that I've raced at Croft before in the Winter Series. I've actually got some knowledge of what it's like to race at the circuit and I'm really looking forward to it. It's a fun circuit and if I can master a few small areas I'm reasonably confident of a good result. If I'm going to win the Graduate Cup this year I need to make an impact at Croft, so some top six finishes would be ideal.”
18th May 2008
Scott continued to show great race pace at Thruxton despite only qualifying in 11th and 14th which obviously hampered his progress up the field.
“I struggled for grip in race one, losing places at the start, but I made them up again and we changed the car a bit for race two. The car handled much better in race two and I was able to move up from 14th to eighth. I was going for seventh when Surtees pushed me off the track and I spun on the grass, losing seven places. All in all, considering this was my first time racing at Thruxton I’m okay with the performance but could have done without being pushed off in race two.”
12th May 2008
Scott travels to Thruxton this weekend, this is another new circuit to him as he has only been able to put in limited testing on the track. Scott who is currently ninth in the championship looks forward to the weekend;
“Thruxton is the fastest circuit in Britain, which automatically means close racing which is something I love. I really like the track because of the high speeds and also because of the opportunities for overtaking. I’ve only been to Thruxton once so I’m still getting to know the track. I hope to achieve a strong top six finish to grab as many points as possible to be in with a chance of a good championship result.”
4th May 2008
Although the meeting was dogged by bad weather the Renault grid escaped with no sudden changes, Scott had managed to qualify in 12th and 11th and was looking to move up the field fairly quickly. In race one Scott made steady progress to finish a creditable seventh and in race two a spin knocked him back to last place and a mountain to climb, however he responded magnificently with the fastest lap of the race (Scott's first of his car career) and surged forward to finish 13th.
"I had a good start in race one and had the pace to get through some of the traffic. Race two also started well but then I made an error, trying a different line through the second to last corner, got a wheel on the dirt and spun around. I was pretty angry with myself for that but it seemed to do the trick and I was able to get my head down and make up a lot of places. I really enjoyed it as the car felt perfect and I was able to really go for it.”
28th April 2008
Scott returns to Donington this weekend the scene of his first competitive race in last years winter series. The first of the Donington meetings last year was a bit of a washout when torrential rain turned the results into a lottery so the teams are hoping for fairer skies this time around. This is the Championship’s only visit to Donington this year as the World Series by Renault round has moved to Silverstone for 2008.
" I learned at Rockingham just how important qualifying is in Formula Renault, and this is something I hope to improve on at Donington Park next weekend. I've been working with a few different people in the team, and outside of the team, on how to better prepare for qualifying. Hopefully it will come together soon. Donington is one of my personal favourites in the UK and my goals are: firstly to finish both races, having got caught up in an incident at Rockingham; and secondly to get on the podium for the first time. I've raced at Donington before in the Winter Series so I know the track pretty well and hope that will help even things up with drivers doing their second or third year in Formula Renault. It's pretty crucial that I move up in the championship table in the coming events as I can't afford to get too far behind early in the year. We've had a few problems and been a little unlucky in the first four rounds; let’s hope it changes at Donington!”
13th April 2008
Scott arrived at Rockingham fresh from a great debut meeting at Brands Hatch and some good test performances at the Northamptonshire circuit earlier in the year. The old saying "that's motor racing" was much in evidence as the meeting turned out to be one to learn from and forget. Scott knows he has to work on his qualifying and this was made clear by two positions of 14th for race one and 12th for race two. Race one started badly with Scott losing places at the start but this was soon overcome as he moved through the field with a determined drive to finish in eleventh place. Race two started well with Scott off the line and challenging for positions immediately, into lap two and he was up to eight when another driver span completely on his own in front of Scott and another car collecting both of them, absolutely nothing to be done but retire when the signs were promising. These results still leave Scott in tenth place in the championship overall and well in contention for the graduate cup. Lessons have been learned and Scott now moves onto Donington in a fortnight.
He commented: " Rockingham did not end as I hoped it might, but some very good lessons have been learned from the experience which I intend to put to use from the next round. I would like to thank the team for a great effort this weekend, they all worked so hard on my behalf but the results weren't there for them, I will be aiming to put that right at Donington".
9th April 2008
After Scott's great start to his debut season at Brands Hatch the action moves on to the oval circuit at Rockingham this weekend 12th & 13th April. Scott is eagerly looking forward to rounds three & four and commented
“I haven’t raced at Rockingham before but I have tested there for four days with the team so I know the track quite well now. Testing was good and, although I picked the circuit up pretty quickly, it took a while longer to pick up the pace as I have never driven on an anti-clockwise circuit before. I definitely noticed the difference in my neck muscles! I really like Rockingham as I like the mixture of long flowing corners and the tight twisty ones; it seems to suit my driving style as there are plenty of overtaking opportunities which is something I am used to from karting. Rockingham is also great for spectators as it’s within an oval and the stands are all around. I was pleased with my first race result at Brands Hatch and my aim is to do as well or hopefully better and to be consistent in both races. Qualifying is so important and I will be working hard to qualify well to put me in the best position to achieve my goal of a podium finish. The whole team work incredibly hard so it would be great to give them a good result.”
30th March 2008
And so the waiting was over and it was time for Scott's debut in the Formula Renault UK series a big day for any driver particularly Scott as he is the youngest in the field.
Qualifying for race one went brilliantly with
Scott narrowly missing pole and eventually finishing third a great start for a new driver. The race started with drama, the poleman stalled on the grid and Scott had to swerve out of his way narrowly missing the polemans stricken car this caused him to lose two places one of which he made back up and ran to the flag for a reasonably comfortable fourth place finish. By any standard a great start to your Renault career. Race two qualifying however produced problems with Scott suffering from steering problems and a grid position of ninth. Unfortunately the race was beset by problems also, the car suffered from rear end traction and handling difficulties which made overtaking virtually impossible and Scott did well to bring the car home in tenth place. This was later diagnosed as a broken rear engine mounting, but all in all a great first meeting for Scott which leaves him in seventh overall championship position. Scott's view of the weekend "
I’m happy with fourth place in race one but not with the 10th I got in race two,” he said. “I was starting to struggle with the car a bit in race two as the rear end was starting to slide so I had to concentrate hard to get to the end. I need to keep working hard to get some good results this year but I have really enjoyed this weekend and can’t wait for the next one.”
24th March 2008
After a very busy winter of testing and fitness work the real action starts this weekend at Brands Hatch. Rounds one & two of the UK Formula Renault championship take place on Sunday 30th with practice on the Saturday. Official testing has gone well for Scott and his team mates and the team are confident of a good start to the season. Scott commented "Pre-season testing has gone fantastically well for me; I’ve learnt so much in such a short period of time. The level of the driving standard is so high this year and it seems almost impossible to be as fast as most, one of them being my team-mate Adam. I’m very happy with the team and their dedication to get me to go faster. I’m looking forward to the first race. It should be a great one but it is going to be tough because Brands Hatch, although it only has four corners, is a very technical circuit and it’s very difficult to overtake. It’s very important to qualify well, and I will be doing my best to do just that.”
15th March 2008
Scott continued where he left off at Brands Hatch to maintain his fine recent form at Snetterton this week. He headed the timing board for a major part of the day before finishing second overall.
7th March 2008
This weeks official two day test at Brands Hatch saw Scott turn in arguably his best performance of his short car career to date. On day one he led the timing board until literally the last thirty seconds when he was pipped and finished the day in second place. On day two despite only being able to run twenty six laps due to the new Renault tyre use regulations he still managed a very creditable fourth place. With the start of his debut season only three weeks away Scott appears to have hit form at the right time and is now eagerly awaiting the return to Brands for round one of the years Formula Renault UK series.

WINTER fORMULA RENAULT SEASON CONCLUDES
The Formula Renault season concluded with two more solid performances at Croft circuit in the North East. Scott had only completed twelve laps of the circuit prior to the qualifying session but managed to qualify in twenty first place on the grid of thirty two drivers who were mostly far more far more experienced. He then brought the car home in both races which were hotly contested on this tight circuit. So from the teams point of view it was mission accomplished, four races, four finishes and plenty of lessons learned in readiness for next seasons full assault on the Formula Renault UK title. Several top teams have expressed an interest in adding Scott to their squad for next season and Scott's management company are currently considering their options and concluding negotiations with the relevant teams. An announcement will be made shortly about the eventual choice of team for this next crucial career stage.

GOOD START TO RENAULT CAREER SHOWS GREAT PROMISE
Scott's first Renault meeting was in a field of thirty two drivers preparing for next years main championship series, many vastly experienced drivers with all the top teams in attendance. A technical problem on practice day resulted in a new wiring loom having to be fitted which restricted Scott's preparation and qualifying was his first outing on race day. A further problem on lap 3 just as the car was coming to optimum resulted in a shortened qualifying session and Scott was facing a start from the back of the grid. The team worked incredibly hard to prepare the car for race one and Scott took his place with moments to spare. As we have seen throughout his karting career Scott is at his best when faced with an uphill battle and he did not disappoint carving his way through the field with a a disciplined display that resulted in a creditable thirteenth place finish posting a time only four tenths off the race winner. The team were delighted with this performance and race two was approached in a confident mood. A similar tale with Scott up to fifteenth place with six laps to run when an incident meant he lost his front wing and Scott had to concentrate on bringing the car home this he managed losing a few places and finishing twenty second. A slightly disappointing end but a good finish to his first ever competitive car meeting and one which showed great promise for the future.
